Google Tag Manager – Cross Domain Tracking

 

If you own 2 websites for example 1 for your fitness website and 1 for your fitness store – you may want to set up cross domain tracking.

You don’t want the same user to fire 2 visits/sessions instead of 1, if you are combining the data from your 2 domains.

  1. Set up a GTM Tag for Google Analytics – tracking All PageViews

2. Edit the Google Analytics – Pageview tag

Under “Configure Tag” click “more settings”

3. Under More Settings – Add Field add the values allowLinker and True

Add another field – CookieDomain

Click the Cross Domain Tracking option – add domains

 

Click continue and then save

Preview and then publish
